The Educational Opportunity Fund in New Jersey was established in 1968 as the state sought to address inequalities in higher education for minorities and other disadvantaged groups.
More than 40 years later, 12,000 students at more than 50 colleges and universities across the state participate in the program. While the initial focus was on racial and ethnic disparities, the program now concentrates on those students with an economic need.
To coincide with 40th anniversary celebrations a year ago in New Brunswick, graduates of the program formed the statewide EOF Alumni Association to continue to advocate for an initiative that has helped so many people in New Jersey. Learn more.
