Rutgers is a leading public research university in the vanguard on a range of subjects. While the admission process can vary by school or field of study, most departments make use of a general application.

A whole world of study for the sharp, the ambitious, and the just plain curious is available at Rutgers. There is a myriad of options to fit your life right now. How you enroll depends on what you want to do.

I chose Rutgers because it had the whole package: a strong social scene and a distinguished academic profile. There’s always something to do here and some way to get involved. In the three years I have attended Rutgers, it has become my second home.

Rutgers’ Three Campuses

The largest of Rutgers’ three campuses is the historical center of the university, which was founded as Queen’s College in 1766. Home to major teaching hospitals and the world headquarters of Johnson & Johnson, the city of New Brunswick has a colonial past and a powerful presence in business, health care, education, and the arts.

A 37-acre campus places Rutgers–Newark in the center of the educational, health care, government, business, and cultural district of Newark, and a short train ride to New York City.

The southernmost of Rutgers’ three campuses is set on a leafy tract just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. Rutgers–Camden provides a small-college experience within a world-class public research university.
