Mason Gross School of the Arts is an arts conservatory offering studio- and performance-based instruction from renowned working artists and master teachers. The school's location within a larger public research university offers students access to unparalleled academic opportunities that create the humanistic cross-references and connections necessary to enrich artistic practice. Professional programs offered are the bachelor of fine arts in dance, filmmaking, theater, or visual arts; the bachelor of music; the master of fine arts in dance, theater arts, or visual arts; the master of music; the doctor of musical arts; and the artist diploma in music. In addition, the Department of Music, under the aegis of the Graduate School–New Brunswick, offers the master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees in composition, theory, and musicology; and the Department of Dance, under the aegis of the Graduate School of Education, offers a master's degree in dance education.
