Campus Information Services for Visitors

Rutgers is a big, dynamic place. On any given day, our campuses are alive with events and activities. In planning your visit, you may have specific questions about logistics, timing, contacts, parking—anything at all. Campus Information Services is your go-to source for all things Rutgers.

You can call 732-445-INFO (4636) to speak to an information specialist or ask your question online.

Is there a website with library hours?
There sure is. I’ll email you the link for that, or you can visit libraries.rutgers.edu and click on Hours & Directions.

OK, my friend says Rutgers started out as Queen’s College. I say it’s always been called Rutgers. Who’s right?
Your friend is. I’ll send you a webpage with a history of Rutgers.

I’ve never had a roommate before. But now I have one who snores. What do I do?
I hear you. I’ll send you a link to a great resource about living with a roommate. It can be challenging, sure, but you can work out most problems. If you want to talk to someone, your RA can be a big help.

I’m still sorting through the options for majors. Where can I learn about the specific requirements for different majors?
A good start would be the university’s catalogs. But you might also ask to meet with your academic adviser for some help after the semester starts. I did that last semester, and it really made a difference.

My son keeps bringing his laundry home. Don’t you have laundry machines there?
We sure do. And you can provide him with these instructions to help him out. You might also direct him to eSuds, a website with updates on laundry machine availability for some Rutgers campuses. And if he’s still having trouble, tell him to call us, and we’ll try to give him directions to the closest machine.

My schedule lists FH for my class. Where is that, and how do I get there? I live in Newell on the Cook Campus.
That’s Frelinghuysen Hall on the College Avenue Campus. I’ll email you a map with a photo. I’ll email a link to the bus schedules, too. And it’s great to have a list of all the building abbreviations.

I have some reading for my psychology class tomorrow, and I don’t have the books. I’m on the Newark Campus. I know it’s late in the game. What are the bookstore hours?
I’ll be happy to give you the bookstore hours, and you can check out the information anytime at the bookstore website, newark-rutgers.bkstore.com. You might also check the Rutgers University Libraries or a public library.

Can you help me? I’m meeting my friend at the Camden Tower, and I’m a half-hour late already. Right now I’m walking down Penn Street. OK, I’m at the corner of Penn and North Second Street. Is Camden Tower the tall building in front of me?
That’s it. You’re in the right place.

I’m living off campus for the first time, and I’m having some problems with the situation. Where do I get help?
The Rutgers Off-Campus Housing Service can help you. Their website, ruoffcampus.rutgers.edu, has a lot of useful resources about leases, security deposits, and landlord-tenant responsibilities. You can even search online listings of available spaces for rent if you are looking for a new place to live. If you have questions or problems with your off-campus housing situation, email ochscis@rci.rutgers.edu for more information or assistance.
